Tartu Observatory

Tartu Observatory, which used to be one of the most important centres of astronomy in the world, is a gem among the Estonian research facilities. The Tartu Observatory has been involved in several important scientific fields throughout history, such as astronomy, geodesy, seismology, time measurement, and theoretical and experimental physics, which is why the Tartu Observatory has changed humanity’s understanding of the Earth and the universe. The Tartu Observatory has a versatile permanent exhibition on the history of astronomy and space exploration, and you can explore the world’s best telescope of its time, a rare Arabic celestial globe, count falling meteors, and learn about the constellations of the northern sky. The Tartu Observatory is a branch of the Tartu University Museum.

Upside Down House

The Upside Down House is a dizzying adventure for everybody – grown-ups and children alike. The house has literally been turned upside down. Upstairs is downstairs and vice versa. Sofas, kitchen cabinets, and everything else that you usually see on the floor, even a cat, hang from the ceiling in the Upside Down House. To be precise, they are on the floor, but remember – the floor is the ceiling and the ceiling is the floor. It is you who is upside down. If you got confused, come and see for yourself – everything you have just read is true.
